A Change in a Name
So I've been thinking.
With no longer playing Tau, and 40k in General, I can't really go on saying this is a Tau-centric blog. Unfortunately, I can't really think of any decent names for a Warpath/Forge Fathers blog :P

Leaving 40k
Hey guys
I've had a few days to think about this, and I've decided that I am going to quit being a wargamer of Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy.
Despite a game that can lead to hours of fun I fun myself incredibly put off by the company that created and has advanced it to what it is today.
With the immenent release of Tau, i see the army that got me into this hobby, made to look ridiculous on the tabletop. None of the new kits inspire me in any way.
Couple this with extortionat prices, and being able to see a company actively trying to close its business to a middleman company.
Considering I want to run my own wargames store one day, I have to say I'd never want to even try and sell Games workshop product. I've seen what they can do to Independant Stockists first hand, and I've read about what they're doing to stockists both within Europe and further.
At present, I'm weighing my options for starting a Warpath army. Chances are very high I'll start a Forge fathers army. I'm also interested in Kings of War, another game by Mantic. Both allow for a great deal of options, and the price is ungodly cheap. For the rough equivalent to a GW Battleforce, I only need to pay £30 for an army starter.
And then I have other companies like Anvil Industry, Zinge Industries and Zealot Miniatures I want to support. They other products of far superior quality, and for the price, I can purchase in greater quantity.
What does this mean for the blog?
Well, obviously I'm going to keep going at it. I need some place to vent my stresses, and show off my creativity :P
As I said, I'm quiting 40 and Fantasy, not the entirety of being a Wargamer ;)
Hopefully you guys, my followers, will continue to watch my madness unfold. Maybe in the not too distant future, you can be my board of Directors for a successful Wargames distribution company XD
As I'm moving onto new and different Game systems I'm going to test my hand at creating armies for them. Systems like Warpath and Kings of War are very easy systems to create new factions for.
Thanks for reading

Modelling - Vespid Wings Part 1
One aspect that has put me off Vespid, is the completely undynamic models (second to the fact that they're Metal/Finecast). The wings always looked like a Jump Pack or sorts, rather than a part of the Vespid.
I recieved 36" of Green Stuff fr4om eBay on Wednesday, and after a bit of a play around with a few other models (mostly making Torsos from scratch and bits) I settled on trying to remake the Vespids Wings.
Here are a couple work in progress shots:

These side views are more to show what the wings I'm making will look like, when positioned on the model. Out of focus behind this vespid, is a paint pot with his new wings on top.
The Plasticard is my template to the wings. Green Stuff is easier to work with than Plasticard in this case.
I personally like the appearence, but thats probably the noral statment of a designer whilst they're working on something. Before anyone points it out, I know the templates are not quite the same. ;)
Here is a comparison shot to show the difference between the wing designs. Sorry for the blurry quality (I was wanting to take a couple quick snappies). As you can see I've removed that Chitinous "Backpack" that the old wings had. I hope it gives the Vespid a more sleek look.
Thanks for reading. Any critism is welcome!

The Forgotten
I finally have some finished models to show for mt Forgotten chapter. I've even decided to go with the idea of naming each marine. This should make my games more interesting.
For info about "The Forgotten," make sure to check out this post: [Link]
First up is my main HQ figure; Marshal Novan.
He uses parts predominantly from Anvil Industries Exo-lords range. The Shield, Head and Thunder Hammer are from Games Workshop kits.
I'm proud of this figure, as he is my first successful model with a fully Green Stuff cloak. The trick I found for the cloak was to add a small amount of green "modeling clay." it ade the GS softer, and kept it softer for longer, even making it flexible still, even after all this time after curing.
It will be interesting it I re-did him with Anvils' redone parts, and I may even take up that project later down the line. Fingers-crossed Anvil makes a Hammer melee weapon at some point.
This duo is Kukei and Alek. They are experienced and highly capable marines, and are no stranger to combat with a Boltgun.
Alek is 100% Anvil Product, while Kukei uses Arms, chest and Leg parts from Games Workshop.
Migalo and Forbos are another pair of capable marines. They are prepared to take thebrunt of an enemy charge, unloading their ammo clips into the enemy bodies.
Both have a mix of Anivl and GW parts.
Zohl is a Sergeant, equipped with a fearsome Chain-Halbard. I'm half-tempted to play it as an "Unusual Power Weapon" but that will be up to my opponent at the start of the game.
Calg has a large amount of spare ammo in his puch, and always uses a belt feed for his weapon. For him, its a more visual indication of his remaining ammo levels..
Calg and Zohl are again, a mix of Anvil and GW parts.
I'm slowly painting the rest of my Marines. I have a Techmarine slowly receving colour, and most of the other normal marines are nearly done.
